Overview and Outcomes of a Group-based Intensive Outpatient Treatment for Pediatric Anxiety and OCD

Cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT) with Exposure and Response Prevention is considered the gold-standard for treating pediatric anxiety disorder and Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder (OCD). However, at least a quarter of youth receiving CBT with ERP do not respond to traditional once-weekly outpatient treatment. Brief intensive exposure-based CBT has emerged as an effective format to improve functioning in youth with anxiety and OCD while allowing them to more expediently return to daily routines compared with higher levels of care.
